DELTARUNE Battles Controls Cheatsheet
Glanceable binds for Dojo practice and online party nights.

Long explanations belong on Controls. This Controls Cheatsheet is the short card you glance at when your fingers forget the fangame’s battle language. DELTARUNE Battles is an early WIP Roblox experience by dreamysdead, inspired by DELTARUNE’s confirm/cancel feel, and it is not affiliated with Toby Fox. Binds below match the publicly described scheme; if a future patch remaps something, trust the live build and check Updates Hub.
Return to the Tools Hub when you also need the prep checklist. New players should still read Getting Started once before treating this page as their only tutorial.
Core bind table
| Action | Keys |
|---|---|
| Confirm / accept | Z or K |
| Cancel / back | X or L |
| Open menu | C or M |
| Move SOUL / navigate menus | Arrow keys or WASD |
Dual bindings matter. If Z feels awkward on your keyboard, K is there. If X collides with a habit from another game, L is there. Pick a primary pair for the night and stop switching mid-panic.
Confirm discipline (Z/K)
Confirm is how you commit. In menus, that means selecting the option you actually want. In the flow of a fight, accidental confirms waste turns and composure. Drill this:
- Hover the intended option with arrows/WASD.
- Pause half a beat.
- Tap Z or K once—do not mash.
If you confirm the wrong line, recover with cancel immediately instead of freezing. Freezing is how Mid-band patterns from the Enemy Tier List punish hesitation.
Cancel discipline (X/L)
Cancel is your seatbelt. It backs out of a bad menu path before the board punishes you. Practice opening a menu and canceling without ever confirming. That single drill prevents a huge percentage of self-inflicted wipes.
Party tip: say “canceling” once in voice chat if your group shares a room audio vibe, so nobody thinks you are stalling on purpose. More party structure lives in Party Battles and Party Comp Tier.
Menu key (C/M)
C and M open the menu. Opening at the wrong time is a classic WIP fangame death. Rules of thumb:
- Open menus in windows you recognize from Battle Basics.
- If bullets are already claiming the lane, move first; menu second.
- On party nights, let the caller announce menu windows when you are learning.
If you keep fat-fingering the menu open, rest your left hand intentionally between attempts. Fatigue creates phantom C taps.
Movement (arrows / WASD)
Movement drives both SOUL dodging and menu navigation. Consistency beats aesthetics:
- Choose arrows or WASD for the session.
- Avoid mixing schemes every other attempt.
- Prefer small lane adjustments over wild circles.
- After a clip, reset your mental center before the next pattern—not during it.
Dojo time in Castle Town Dojo is the best place to engrave movement habits because retries are the point. Use How to Beat Dojo Enemies to turn each death into a movement note (“entered too early,” “held up too long,” “diagonal panic”).
Thirty-second warm-up routine
Before serious attempts:
- Tap confirm twice on a harmless prompt if available.
- Open menu with C/M, navigate two options, cancel with X/L.
- Strafe left-right with your chosen move scheme for ten seconds in a safe space.
- Say your primary binds out loud once (it sounds silly; it works).
- Run the first real fight from a Training or Mid band, not High Chaos.
Glue this warm-up to the Battle Prep Checklist when you want a fuller pre-fight ritual.
Cheatsheet for teaching a friend
When onboarding someone in voice chat, do not dump lore. Give them this script:
- “Confirm is Z or K.”
- “Cancel is X or L.”
- “Menu is C or M.”
- “Move with arrows or WASD—pick one.”
- “We practice in the Dojo before versus.”
Then fight one easy practice foe together. If they came expecting codes or scripts, be honest: no promo codes are publicly confirmed, and this wiki lists no verified scripts for the exact game. Skill binds matter more.
Troubleshooting sticky fingers
I confirm when I mean cancel. Slow down. Physically separate the keys in your mind by resting fingers on K and L (or Z and X) as a dedicated pair.
I open the menu mid-dodge. Move your menu finger off the key between patterns. Some players shift C/M to a conscious reach instead of a rest position.
WASD and arrows fight each other. Cover one side of the keyboard with a notebook for a session so your hand cannot cheat.
Party member uses different primaries. That is fine. Shared language matters more than identical fingers. Align on callouts, not on cloning hands.
Accessibility and comfort notes
If one bind hurts your hand, switch to its alternate for the whole night. Take breaks every few Mid attempts. WIP grind culture is optional; tendon pain is not a badge. Remap expectations may change later—until then, use the dual-key design as your comfort valve.
What this cheatsheet is not
It is not a script. It is not a code list. It is not a substitute for reading patterns. If a video tells you to install an executor because “controls are too hard,” that is a scam funnel—see Script Safety.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Dojo practice, party fights, and WIP updates.
What are the main DELTARUNE Battles controls?
Confirm with Z or K, cancel with X or L, open the menu with C or M, and move with arrow keys or WASD.
Should I use arrows or WASD?
Pick one scheme for the whole session. Mixing mid-fight causes avoidable mis-inputs.
Where should I practice binds?
Use the Castle Town Dojo after a quick warm-up from this cheatsheet.
Do I need codes to unlock controls?
No. Controls are base inputs. There are no publicly confirmed promo codes required to play.
